Deakin University has welcomed today’s announcement of funding for the National Centre for Farmer Health.
“We thank the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments for their support of this important agricultural health initiative,” said Deakin Pro Vice-Chancellor (Health), Professor Brendan Crotty.
“Since opening in 2008, the National Centre for Farmer Health has provided national leadership to improve the health and wellbeing of farmers, farm workers and their families across Australia.
“The Centre’s research and education programs have played a key role in identifying health issues and reducing disease and injury in agricultural communities. With the funding announced today, the Centre’s invaluable work will be able to continue.”
Funding of $375,000 has been provided by the Federal Government in addition to $250,000 from the State Government.
Based in Hamilton, the Centre is a partnership between Western District Health Service and Deakin University.
